Broccoli Mornay






Hi my dear readers.... How is your day? Here, I could feel that the dryness of winter is slowly disappearing.....  The buds are on its way to get blossomed.... preparing for the spring. The flora are whispering me ...we are getting ready with our best makeup gifted by our creator....They  are all set to welcome spring.... 



I came to know about broccoli only a few years ago. Now we buy it often. Broccoli mornay is baked broccoli in cheesy sauce.  We first have had this on a restaurant in Trivandrum and then onward we used to make it every now and then whenever we had broccoli in hand. Thank Lord for getting us the beautiful taste of broccoli ....




Ingredients:
3 cups of broccoli florets
2 tablespoons of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of butter
1 1/2 cups of warm milk
1 cup of cheddar cheese
1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese
pepper powder
Salt

Method:
Preheat your oven to 350 0F. 

Blanch broccoli florets in boiling water for 3 minutes and then drain in cold running water. Drain them and put in a one litre casserole or baking dish.

Take 2 tablespoons of milk in a cup and add all purpose flour. Stir it well so that the mixture is lump free. Set aside.

In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat and then add flour mixture and cook for two minutes continuously stirring. 

Add warm milk and mix it well till well blended. Cook till the entire mixture is thickened.

Switch of the flame and add 1/2 cup of cheddar and stir well until it is melted. Sprinkle pepper powder and salt to taste

Now mix up the remaining cheddar and mozzarella.

Pour  the cheese sauce over the broccoli and mix it. Sprinkle some cheese over the top and bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Note:
I didn't mention the amount of pepper powder. Add it as per your hot requirement.
You can customize the seasoning as per your family's requirement.



We had this cheesy baked broccoli for our dinner..... and we enjoyed... So if you love broccoli and cheese, this is indeed a different treat for u and your dears... :-)
